Terms of Service

What Signing Up Means

Creating an InboxShielder account means these Terms apply to you from that point on. Not on board with something here? Best to skip signing up, no hard feelings.

The Service Itself

An encrypted email platform running on zero-knowledge architecture, covering messaging, storage, and whatever features come with your plan. We can adjust, pause, or retire parts of it as the product develops.

Setting Up Your Account

A few things are expected of you when you join:

  • Being 16 or older
  • Giving accurate registration information
  • Keeping your login credentials secure
  • Reporting suspicious account activity promptly
  • Taking responsibility for what happens under your account

What's Off the Table

This platform isn't a place for:

  • Breaking laws or regulations, anywhere they apply
  • Spam, unsolicited marketing, or bulk commercial mail
  • Malware, viruses, or otherwise harmful code
  • Harassing, threatening, or abusing others
  • Infringing on intellectual property rights
  • Trying to access our systems without authorization
  • Getting in the way of the service or other users
  • Fraudulent or illegal activity of any kind

Privacy, In Short

The full picture lives in our Privacy Policy, but here's the gist: zero-knowledge encryption keeps your content private, some metadata still passes through, and using the service means accepting how we handle it.

How Payment Works

For paid accounts:

  • Payment is due upfront for each billing period
  • Refunds follow legal requirements only
  • Price changes come with 30 days' notice
  • Plans renew automatically unless cancelled
  • Missed payments can lead to suspension or termination

Who Owns the Platform

Everything that makes up InboxShielder, including the software, design, text, graphics, and logos, belongs to us and is protected under copyright, trademark, and related law.

Where Our Responsibility Ends

To whatever extent the law allows, InboxShielder isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost profits, or lost data tied to your use of the service.

No Promises Beyond This

The service is offered as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We can't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

When We Might Close an Account

We can suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms, use the service fraudulently or illegally, pose a security risk, or if law requires it. Closing your own account takes just a few clicks through your settings.

Covering Costs If Something Goes Wrong

If your use of the service, or a violation of these Terms, leads to claims or losses against us, you agree to cover those costs, legal fees included.

Which Law Applies

These Terms are governed by Swiss law, and any disputes are resolved in Swiss courts.

If These Terms Get Updated

We can revise these Terms whenever needed. Material updates get posted here with a new "last updated" date, and continuing to use the service afterward means you accept the changes.

If One Piece Doesn't Hold Up

Should any single provision turn out unenforceable, that piece gets trimmed to what works, and everything else stays in effect.
